Mortgage providers had an exceptional 2020 –the most mortgages in history were signed. Despite the coronavirus crisis and many limitations, the average interest rate gradually fell to 1.96%. But how will it be in 2021? According to many specialists, we cannot count on such favorable conditions this year.

The main event last year was undoubtedly the COVID-19 pandemic situation. It has led to a worse economic situation, rising unemployment and other social impacts. At the same time,  interest rates on the world interbank markets and mortgages keep falling.

All these factors will affect the Czech mortgage market this year as well but this year we cannot expect the same positive effects. On the contrary ČNB has already started to slowly increase interbank interest rates.
